A bit about me

I suppose its only appropriate that I introduce myself.  Hi, I'm Lisa.  I'm 30 years old, married to Herby and the mother of 2 amazing little girls PiePie (4) and RazzleDazzle (13mos).  No, those aren't their real names... I'm using nicknames for now.

I have a full-time job as a Systems Engineer that I really enjoy.  Wondering exactly what that is?  Well, essentially I work in the basement on servers all day.  You'd think I'm a computer nerd based on my job title, but I don't consider myself to be.   I also run a small photography business on the side which I love!

I'm the type of person that has to be busy all the time.  If I'm just sitting around doing nothing and not being productive, all I do is think about the things I could be accomplishing.  I'm also the type of person that likes instant gratification.  So, sewing is something that meets both of those quirks for me.

I consider myself to be a self-taught seamstress.  I did take a sewing class in 7th grade, but to be honest with you, I barely remember it.  I think we made a pillow and that was it.  I just got my first sewing machine for my 29th birthday last January and that is where my love of sewing really began.

Most people ask "How do you have time to sew with 2 small children?"  My answer to that my friends is nap time and bedtime.  My girls go to bed between 7pm & 8pm, so that gives me a glorious 3-4 hours of sewing time!  I don't watch a lot of TV and probably do less household chores than I should, but hey, sewing is a much better use of my time.

Don't mind the disgruntled look on RazzleDazzle's face.  That girl will not smile for the camera under any circumstance.  The girls are wearing their Christmas dresses in this photo made using the Caroline Party Dress pattern by Mouse House Creations.  Go check out the pattern on Etsy and you'll see my girls are on the cover of 2 of the listings!!  I'll do a full pattern review of the dress soon!
