DIY Girl's Dress: The Lorelei Girl Dress

We have a few exciting celebrations coming up this Summer that call for dressing up.  So what's a girl to do, but get to work making dresses!

I recently completed this dress for PiePie:

The pattern used to make this dress is the Lorelei Girl Dress by E-Beth Designs (affiliate link)

The Lorelei Girl Dress features a scoop neckline, high waist and half circle skirt.

Here's a closer look at the bodice and neckline.

I made this dress using an old bed sheet.  Looking back, the sheet probably wasn't the best choice for this pattern since it'd be impossible to line up the pattern on the fabric, but I think it still turned out pretty cute.  Just don't look too close!

The back of the dress closes with a zipper.  If you don't have a lot of experience with sewing zippers, don't be scared!  Just jump right in, they aren't difficult to install.

The Lorelei Girl Dress pattern also features a petticoat and option sash which I chose not to make... mainly because I'm lazy.  It still is fully lined and seems full enough without the petticoat.

Overall I was incredibly impressed with this pattern and would recommend it to anyone.  The tutorial is very well-written and left me with no head-scratching moments.  That's a big deal for me.  I don't like to have to think too hard when I'm sewing.

Be sure to check back next week when I'll be posting about the Lorelei Dress I made for myself!
